16 Christ Centered Christmas Traditions

Most of these ideas are to remind MYSELF what is truly important today. I’m struggling with the hustle and bustle of the season, and I need to stay focused on what is truly important.

1. Decorate with nativity sets. My Mom is a great example of this. She has probably a hundred nativities around her house. She collects them, and it is so fun to see all the different ones she has. She even has a Little Tikes Nativity Set so that the kids can play with it. I LOVE this idea because some years we haven’t dared put out our nice ceramic set in fear that our smallest child would destroy it.

We just put out our yard nativity  a few days ago. {In our defense, our yard was a block of ice for several weeks}.

2-11: I love these 10 ideas from Lou Lou Girls to help your Christmas stay Christ centered. Go to their blog to read their ideas:

12. Go to a Live Nativity {our area has several of these, and it is always fun to see!}

13. Watch the nativity as a family. I love this one from The Piano Guys:

or this one from Bible Stories.org

14. Do service.  This can be as small as opening a door for a stranger. No act of service is too small. We are making cookies today for our neighbors!

15. Go caroling. My family went caroling every single year when I was growing up. We gave my Mom heck for it, but looking back it was one of the best ways to spread Christmas cheer. AFter all, Buddy the Elf was right, “The best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

16. Hug or Feed the Missionaries. All of these missionaries are serving the Lord, and they are away from their families. If you see them, please give them a hug because their families miss them! Watch this fun video from Olympus High School in 2012 when their graduates were opening their mission calls. I’m sitting here with tears streaming down my face.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas!

xoxo,

Brooke

  1. We used your patterns for a Yard Nativity last year and made one for our church. Our church sits on the same street as our Elementary, MIddle and High School in our small town, so everyone drives past! It was lots of fun to get them out again this year. We’ve had them up since the beginning of Advent; only had to dig them out of the snow twice!

    Merry Christmas.
