Hi there All Things Thrifty readers! I love to see projects that are inspired by an All Things Thrifty Post. A lot of readers do too! I had a specific request to bring back “Feature Friday.” So, today I’m going to give you a few guidelines or tips as to HOW to get featured. Today, I would like to give a few suggestions on how I pick my “Feature Friday” recipients. It’s pretty simple, and if you follow some simple guidelines you might just see your project here on the site. š
Step 1: Take a “before” picture. I’m a sucker for before and afters, let’s be honest here. If the before picture is a drab, old, dusty piece of …. and the new changed “after” picture is a FABULOUS, NEW, Sparkly (ok it doesn’t need to be sparkly) but, do you get my drift?
Step 2: Try hard to take good quality pictures. When I get pictures that are good quality, I am MUCH more likely to display them on my blog. š Easy enough? A tip that I’ve noticed when I’m taking pictures of my projects is that the light outside is almost ALWAYS better than the light inside. A dark photo doesn’t showcase the many hours that you spent on your project. But, a bright, quality photo catches my attention.
Step 3: Don’t forget to link back. You’d be surprised how many people send me their projects, blog about them on their blog, send me the link, and do not have a link back. š One of the very best ways to show your love to a blogger is to link back to them. We LOVE it. It’s a huge compliment.
Step 4: Include a picture of your project in the room it is intended for after it is complete. Many people have a hard time visualizing. This is VERY common. If you paint a night stand, send me a picture of it sitting next to your bed…etc. This is not required, but it’s pretty fun for me to see your homes. š
Step 5: Send me one project at a time. I have a limited amount of time when I am on my email. The new baby takes a lot of my time right now. So, if you send me ten projects, believe me, I am VERY impressed, but I don’t have the time to look at them all at once. Sound good?
Step 6: Keep in mind, it doesn’t need to be a HUGE project to qualify. I love to see big projects too, don’t get me wrong, but the small projects are just as worthy of a Feature Friday post.
Pretty easy, aye?
Today’s Feature Friday goes to Amber who painted these amazing frames.
I love the color she chose!
She did a fab job glazing them.
AND…this was Amber’s FIRST DIY project! Two thumbs up Amber!
Disclaimer: I get a lot of pictures e-mailed to me, so paleeeeeeaaaasse don’t be offended if you don’t get featured. I wish I could put every project on the site, but I simply just can’t.
Don’t forget that the Paper Cafe is still offering a 15% discount on all their Three Designing Women products until April 29th! Mollie (the super, duper, awesome gal from the Paper Cafe) asked me to remind you. š
