I’m always stoked to be asked to join home tours. {Thank you Gina!} The tours are always so fun, in fact I like virtual home tours better than our local parade of homes lately. The builder beige walls make me want to poke my eye with a needle. If that’s your favorite though, don’t take offense.
Summer is in full swing here. My four monsters, perfect kids got out of school before Memorial day, and today was rough. I have one child in particular that thinks I need to entertain her for every second of every day. I’m afraid we are off to a rocky start of a summer. I may or may not have lost my cool this morning. “I have toilets that need to be cleaned if someone is bored,” may have escaped my lips.
So…it feels good to finally have a quiet house and write. People always say “enjoy with while it lasts,” and I promise I do, most of the time, but the kids are driving me nutso already and summer started five minutes ago.
Before you enter my home tour, please know that these pictures are ALL FLUFF. My house never looks like this. Usually you would see at least 3 pairs of shoes laying around, you would probably find a pair of random underwear somewhere from my 4 year old changing into a swimming suit, and crumbs all over my countertops. I honestly wipe my counters off at least four times a day from pure necessity of exterminating the stickiness.
So, with that in mind, welcome to our home!
The living room is definitely the center of our home. We spend most of our time together in this room. The kids rough house in here like it’s goin’ out of style, and my 7 year old daughter does back hand springs on the rug daily.
I give my kids a tally mark when I see them being kind. It’s been interesting so far since the kids think it’s a competition. I guess a kindness competition isn’t the worst thing we could spend our summer focusing on, right? But honestly I think it’s mostly for me. It reminds me that I really do have great, kind kids. The tallies help me to notice the good instead of focusing on the times they punch each other.
If you look close, you can see our little princess Sugar the Shih-Tsu taking a snooze. 🙂
We love the bright color vibe, and I can’t get enough.
My cute hubby spent a few hours cutting out this gorgeous USA barn map for me, and it might be my favorite thing in my entire house. Â In fact, we joined up with a local wood-working shop, and they agreed to sell one similar for only $150. {UPDATE, the shop just agreed to give a $25 discount using the code allthingsthrifty1}.Â
I love the barn wood USA map so much, and the antique hutch underneath it is a crowd favorite too. Buy your own similar map HERE. <— affiliate link {just keepin’ it real folks}Â
The kitchen is the second busiest part of the house. Those are the counters I was talking about that need to be wiped four times a day.
The office is my relaxation room. I love the natural light that beams into this room in the mornings. It makes me happy. I made this fun magazine rack to display some of my favorite mags.
The floral rug adds that pop of unexpected pizazz, and I love the greek key molding that I talked my cute hubby into installing.
Our master bedroom wingback headboard was a fun DIY project, and I have a slight obsession with pillows if you can’t tell. I’ve made my bed for the last 4 days guys. I think I need a pat on the back.
The first thing that our kids see when the come into our home is this “dream big” wall. I hope they take it to heart and always remember I believe in them. I will tackle the yucky tan carpeted stairs as soon as I feel the motivation to pull out 1 trillion staples. I’m aiming for 2018. Ha.
My two daughters got lucky when I was feeling motivated last year and I designed this fun room for them complete with a plaid striped wall and DIY upholstered headboards.
Since we live in Souther Utah, which is a travel destination, we decided that a guest room was an absolute necessity. We have LOVED having guests often, and even installed a murphy bed in our house too.
When you come to stay in our guest room, I’ll put you to work weeding our flower bed that we just installed. 🙂 Just kidding, we want our guests to relax. In fact, we’ve thought long and hard about how to help our guest room be inviting and have come up with 36 necessities every guest room should have.Â
What do you think? Want to move in? Just be aware, if you are bored, I have toilets that need cleaning.
xoxo,
Brooke

Beautiful, Brooke! You have worked so hard!! I want to move in to your office.
Beautiful home, I love how light and bright it is! I am wondering where you bought the sofa in the living room and love seat in the office? Thanks!
Thank you for your sweet comment! The love seat in the office is from Downeast Home and we purchased our couch from a local furniture store but it is an Ashley furniture brand!
Awesome post! thank you so much for sharing I really enjoyed reading this and the great photos!
