Flooring REVEAL! Home Legend Barrett Distressed Hickory from The Home Depot

I promised a quick reveal of the floor, and I finally have pictures to show you!!  To remind you how each area looked before, I’m including some before pictures. I’m a sucker for before and afters, so if you are like me, you are going to love this post!

If you remember on my wood flooring concerns post, I was worried that the new flooring would clash with my wood cabinets. I am sooo happy that it totally doesn’t! It looks great. Phew.

I’m proud to admit that the plant is covering up a pile of clutter next to my fridge. Yep. You read that right.

The greek key molding in my office is one of my favorite parts of my house.

The wood flooring makes it look even better!

Our entryway is the biggest change of all, I’m going to share a very embarrassing photo because I need you to see just how much of a change we are talking about here.

Just check out the nasty carpet folks. Yep, I lived with it for five years.

When we added the DREAM BIG wall, it helped avert your eyes, but it still wasn’t ideal.

Our white molding boxes really pop now that the wood is installed.

The Master Bedroom was a controversial subject with the Mr., but I won when I promised him a “soft” rug and the flooring went in there too.

I’m trying to decide what decorations to put back in. I’m going to reveal the living room on Wednesday, so be sure to check back for that! If you follow me on Instagram, you already got a sneak peek {because I just couldn’t help myself}.

Thank you to The Home Depot who provided the Barrett Distressed Hickory flooring by Home Legend to me at no cost. I did not receive any compensation, but the products were given to me at no cost. All opinions are 100% my own.

  1. Oh my goodness I LOVE it!!! We recently did ours last fall, and it COMPLETELY changed our home. Your house is so beautiful! Yay for new flooring!!

  2. Love the floors! Your home is beautiful! And you are right that carpet was nasty (hehe). Is that a cat door in the wall? Brilliant idea!

  3. Looks incredible? Have you thought about painting the island white? Would totally make your granite and the new floors pop!

    1. Yep! We have definitely thought about it. I’ve got to work on the hubsters, but that may happen in the future. šŸ™‚

  4. Thank you for posting such great pictures of this flooring. I am considering putting it in my home too, now that I can see how truly beautiful it is. How has it held up? I am worried about the durability. Thank you!

  5. Why did you squeeze your tv over the fireplace? I would’ve put it on the wall to the left. The wood looks 1000 times better and did make the waistcoat pop. However why are the wood planks different widths? Never seen that before.

    1. Because of the layout of the room. We wanted more seating space. The flooring widths are just an option. I love them!

  6. I am wondering how the floors have held up. I am thinking about putting the same flooring down.

    1. They have been GREAT! I absolutely love them. If I ever needed to pick flooring in another house, I would put them in in a hot second!

  7. Absolutely a fabulous job. I know how backbreaking this can be as I too refinished my house alone. I was only 25 at the time and that was well, let’s just say a LONG time ago
My first job was refinishing my hardwood floors. I rented this gigantic sander which I needed help to carry to my second floor. Just a tip about cutting down the dust. Someone told me to hang damp sheets on the walls. This really did the trick
It’s a real pain, but worth it as the dust sticks to the sheets. Of course, unlike you, I was only doing 3 bedrooms. I think the polyurethane bothered me the most. Kudos to you for a beautiful job and the gorgeous results. Do it while you’re young, because all I do now is spackle/plaster, paint and wallpaper. Days of heavy stuff are over, but you never lose the satisfaction and knowledge of each job done.
