I know it is a lofty claim, but I swear I’m trustworthy folks. Try it, you’ll like it.
These breadsticks are delicious, and they go great with my Alfredo recipe too.
The Dough:
1 1/2 cup warm water
1 tbsp yeast
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
3-4 cups flour
Topping:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup mayo
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp dill weed
Mix bread ingredients. Knead for 8 mins in ball. It will be tough. {I put mine in my Bosch Mixer with the kneading hooks}. Spread out evenly onto greased cookie sheet. {Make sure and push all the way to the edges. You’ve kinda got to work with it!} Let rise for 30 mins to 1 hour.
Mix together topping ingredients. This will seem like a lot but I promise you’ll want to use ALL of it. It absorbs into the bread so you’ll definitely want to use it ALL!!
Spread it on cold. Cook @ 400 degrees for 10-12 mins. Cut with pizza cutter.
Thank you to my beautiful friend Liz for this delicious recipe.
xoxo, Happy Weekend!
i think i need to try this on next gaming night with my friends (we’ll all be stuffed ^_^)
You will love them!
My family LOVES breadsticks. I make them often from premade dough but have really wanted to try a from scratch recipe. It is more convenient to just use what I have in the pantry to make delicious breadsticks on demand. This looks like a great recipe!
That’s what I love about this recipe. I have the ingredients 90% of the time! I forgot to buy a new bottle of dill weed so last time I had to borrow some for a neighbor. Good times. <—typical.
Yum!! Breadsticks are totally not a part of my diet but when they are the best ones know to man you have to sometimes make them anyway! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
Wow, these look so good – you could almost smell the garlic just looking at them! Have printed out and will be giving these a try 🙂
Did you use all-purpose flour or bread flour?
I just used good ol’ all purpose flour!
After you mix the dough, try covering it and letting it sit for 10 minutes. It should stretch out in the pan much easier then. Then just go ahead with the 30-60 minute raise time. I’ve made these for my family and they are a hit. I’m going to get the Scouts from my ward to make them tonight for a fund raising dinner.
Thank you! 🙂
What size cookie sheet do you use? And about how many breadsticks does this recipe make?
I just used a standard size cookie sheet. I don’t think it matters too much on the exact size because the dough will spread. Also, it totally depends. If you cut them smaller you can obviously get more. I’d guess to say you’ll get a least 2 dozen though… I hope this helps!
So I was looking through your year end recap and saw this post. At first I thought I was going crazy because we love this recipe and have used it for years. I was so confused thinking you had just posted it this year. Glad you posted it again because it is such an amazing recipe! Now I’m craving them! Thanks for such a great blog!
