**BEWARE OF PICTURE OVERLOAD…this is a “HOME” tour**
Please meet the “Kustom Cozy,” a tiny storage container cabin that measures only 20 feet long and 8 feet wide. It was customized by Kustom Container, a storage container company based in Southern Utah that ships containers all over the U.S. and beyond.
The Kustom Cozy started out as a boring steel storage container, but it’s far from boring now. I had the opportunity to decorate this darling space, and after it was done, I didn’t want to leave. In fact, I want one of these cabins myself. Do you blame me?
I love the interchangeable organizational system they created to hang bikes, gear, and saddles.
The containers can be modified to include front doors, porches, electrical, lighting fixtures, kitchens, flooring, bathrooms, A/C and Heating, windows…and more.
We painted the front door with Sherwin Williams Charisma, the walls {inside and outside} is Sherwin Williams Repose Grey, and the trim is Sherwin Williams Dovetail.
This little darling had just enough room for a tiny kitchen, a dining room, and a small living room/bedroom.
The kitchen is sporting granite counter tops, beautiful white cabinets, and repose grey walls. The flooring is luxury vinyl tile that is completely water proof.
The decor accessories were from HomeGoods, Walmart, Target, Kohls and Ross.
The drop leaf dining room table is from IKEA. I love that the sides fold down to save space, but can be brought up when you need them.
The IKEA bed/couch fit perfectly in the space.
The green dining room chairs were from Ross.
My favorite part of this entire room is that the A/C is hidden! Before my genius husband built me a custom A/C cover, the only thing my eye could see was that ugly air conditioner unit. I love that Dan came to my rescue and built me a hinging picture!
The horse picture and star is from Kohls, the clock is from Target, and the other frames are from HomeGoods and Ross. The blue cabinet shelf is from HomeGoods too. If you have questions about the decor products used in the cabin, leave a comment, and I will respond asap.
If you have any additional questions about the container, don’t hesitate to contact my friends at Kustom Container. They are great!
I hope you like the Kozy Cabin! Do me a favor! If you like it, pin an image or two.
xoxo,
Brooke
This is brilliant. What an upcycle. I am imagining a container in my backyard, tricked out as a bedroom with bath for my older teenaged son. If we didn’t live in Canada and I wasn’t afraid I would have to chip him out of bed in January….lol
Thank you! HAHA! He would never get out of bed!
Okay, I’m kind of a little obsessed with these Tiny Homes lately, and have seen a few storage container remakes, but this just took the cake! It’s fabulous!!! Every little detail… I love the AC unit cover (brilliant), and all of your color choices. Such a great project. Well done!
Me tooooo! Thank you so much for stopping by, and for your cute compliments! xoxo
I love this finish product! You are amazing with everything you touch. Thanks for transforming our cute container into a space that I never want to leave (which is good since I am there a lot)!
It’s all because of you, my friend! Thank you for asking me to be a part of this fun project!
WHAT!!!!! This is the coolest!!!! I want one in my own yard! I have my craft room/office at my house but wouldn’t it be SO nice to have a separate space home away from home office!!? I LOVE IT! Amazing job as usual!!!
XOXO
Thanks Mal! Love you!
Hi Brooke,
How did your husband do the “hinged picture”? Great idea that could hide many electronics in our home?
These colors and decor are so perfect together! You did an awesome job!! Seriously. Where did you find the hello door mat?
Oh, and the Adirondack chairs? ??
The Adirondack chairs are from Lowes. š
We got the hello door mat from Target. š
Fabulous job, Brooke! Now, if only I could figure out how to hook that up to a trailer and take it camping! Forget the the tents! Hee, hee. How come that storage unit is better decorated than my house?
I love everything about this! The only thing missing is a bathroom.
I so love this. It would make the perfect casita for guests.
LOVE this! I could so use this to “decorate” the cement pad on the side of our home to use as an office space. And hideaway from the kids. š
You did awesome on this lady! I love it all! Dan is a genius by making that cover!
What about the bathroom issue? Where do you go for that?!? Please explain your thinking on that critical issue…
Thanks!
If you are installing the cabin where plumbing is available, you can install a regular bathroom! But if not, you can install a compost toilet or a waterless toilet. If you have additional questions, feel free to call Kustom Container, they are experts and know all the options! š I had to call them an ask for the answer on this actually.
I’ve been fascinated with the “tiny house” programs on hgtv š It would be interesting to know how much a project like this costs. One thing you did not specify where you got it from was that wire shelf – I could not take my eye off of the wire shelf – love it!
It’s from HomeGoods. š There is one kind of like it at Target right now, but it’s not exactly.
Hey, I am obsessed with Tiny Houses. I don’t know how I missed this post. Oh, wait I do. New job… Love it. Very you.
