Fall Outdoor Decor Ideas with Fall Barrels

My sister Nat is a genius. I went to her house and I wanted to steal all the things. Look at these darling Fall barrels in her backyard!! The best part? They were basically free {besides the cost of spray paint}. She went to a nearby corn field, cut down some corn stalks, found some cattails, and put them in the barrels.

Sidenote and warning: You need a LOT of corn stalks and cattails to fill barrels this big. I went on an adventure last week to try and duplicate the look. I fell short, by a lot. With all of the corn stalks and cattails I gathered, one barrel wasn’t full enough. So, mental note, you need a LOT to make it look good and full. Plus, if you get genuine cattails, they will blow up after a few weeks and spread a cottony looking mess around your entire yard. I haven’t come up with a solution to this problem yet. But, they sure are pretty before they blow up. 🙂

But, the good news is that I found steel garbage cans at Walmart for only $10 each that would look darling spray painted. {They are more online than they are in the store.}

Nat used them for decoration for her friend’s wedding, and I hope to share pictures of the rest of the decor soon {hint, hint, as soon as I get pictures}.

Look how amazing her corn tassel wreath looks on her house! I love that she makes these every single year and it only costs her $1 in supplies!

I think she needs to come help me decorate for Fall, don’t you agree? {And bring a truck load of corn stalks and cattails with her}.

xoxo,

Brooke

Random thought, but what color should she paint her back doors? I did some photoshopping for her. What do you think? I narrowed my faves to these five:

I love all colors, it’s hard for me to choose sometimes!

    1. Her family owns a farm…lucky girl. I’m sure they came from the farm! But, I mentioned this in the post, I am looking for tin garbage cans to paint. I found some at Walmart!
