In our family, we don’t have a birthday party every year. It’s just what we have decided. We do this for two main reasons:
- We think it’s important to celebrate birthdays with family most of the time.
- We can do slightly bigger celebrations on the years we do have friend parties.
We only have friend parties when the kids turn 5, 8, 12, and 16.
My youngest son Creed is obsessed with Star Wars. So his birthday party HAD to be a Star Wars party. We enlisted the neighbors to help us with a scavenger hunt {to help find Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber that he had lost}, had jodi-training, made Jedi padawan robes for each kid {they were no-sew and SO EASY}, and even had a surprise visit from Darth Vadar himself.
The food was inspired by my friends over at Pretty Providence who hosted a Star Wars party a few years back.
These death star disks were a huge hit. We dipped oreos in white chocolate and spread them with edible glitter.
The Lightsabers were delicious! Pretzel sticks, dipped in caramel and chocolate.
Jabba the hutt pizza was awesome and relatively cheap since we just bought whole pizzas from Costco and cut the pieces a little smaller.
The Yoda Soda was just pineapple soda mixed with blue raspberry soda. We used Shasta for this.
Boba-Que Chips and Vader Tater Chips are a must too! 🙂
We had a blast, and so did the boys.
Check out cute little Tuckett. He was obsessed with being a Jedi. We made each boy their own lightsaber with a pool noodle, some duct tape, and some electrical tape.
I made these cute notebooks for each boy on my Silhouette machine with this tutorial.
The birthday boy LOVED IT!
And I think the boys loved it too. Check those Jedi’s out!
We even had one girl Jedi leader to help out with training. {Londyn is Creed’s big sister}.
The Jedi’s had to learn how to quickly get through obstacles at a nearby park too. They took turns running and jumping as fast as they could.
They found Luke Skywalker’s light saber in a nearby planet. {A dirt lot in our neighborhood}.
I was CRACKING up at how much they were paying attention to the instructions for the Jedi Training.
Darth Vadar showed up at the end, and the kids attacked him. It was hilarious.
I hope you have an amazing May the Fourth!
xoxo,
Brooke
