Every home in America needs one of these wall organizer kitchen command centers. I believe that 100%. After a few years of thought, I finally decided to put my ideas to work and to make the perfect wall organization system in all the land. The best part!?! The frames are all interchangeable!
You might be thinking, um…..”What does that even mean!?!” Don’t stress, I promise it’s a big deal, and I will show you exactly what that means.
Let this video illustrate the magic:
I will be posting the instructions soon, but the entire project was painted and stained with my trusty Rustoleum products. Since I know I will get questions about what colors I used exactly, I will lay it all out there for you below:
The frames are Chalked spray paint in Coastal Blue. If you haven’t used Chalked spray paint yet, you are missing out! It’s SPRAY PAINT BUT IT’S SANDABLE! Yep, it’s just like other brands of chalk paint, but you can spray it on instead of brushing it. It’s a huge timesaver. Then I sealed it with Clear Chalked Matte Topcoat. My favorite thing in the world because I’m not a fan of wax. I actually wrote a post specifically about the protective topcoat.
I use Varathane stains all of the time because they are such great products. See how they say “3X” on the packages above? Did you know that in order for them to be able to print that on the label, they have to be able to prove that statement!?! Basically they work 3 times faster than any direct competing product! Plus for me, it saves me time, so that’s a win! The outside frame is Kona Stain, and the background stain color is called Sunbleached, which is seriously my favorite. It’s gray, but it’s not too dark or too cool. It’s a tad warm, and I love it! I sealed the stain with my favorite sealer called “triple thick” because it goes on like 3 coats of all other brands. It’s a timesaver, and it works great! I used Satin sheen for this project!
I painted the pencil boxes with Chalked Spray Paint in Blush, and the shelf is also a Chalked Spray Paint color called Serenity blue {see pictures above}. I also painted pieces of backer board with chalkboard paint and dry erase paint too.
Since I’m selling my house, I asked my friend Jo if she would take care of my kitchen command center until I move, and she was nice enough to let me take pictures of it in her cute house!
The calendar was an etsy find, and the cute gold and white folders are from target, along with the plant and clock.
The colorful artwork is from Jenny’s print shop, and I want to die I love it so much. HAHA.
All of the wood was purchased at The Home Depot, and I built almost all of it by myself. I had Dan’s help on a few things, but I’m tellin’ ya, this project was at least 90% built by me, myself, and I.
I love that displaying kids’ art can now be done in a classy intentional way too!
I hope you like it! Stay tuned for the tutorial coming in the next day or so!
xoxo,
Brooke
Love this! I have looking for something like this for a long time !!
What are the measurements for the whole piece? Trying to figure out if something like this would work in my space.
Oh and also if you happen to know the paint color on that wall? 🙂
