You will need:
A corn field {HA! yep, I said a corn field},
Scissors,
A plastic bag,
A pool noodle {Summer is over so just use an old one you have laying around or go buy one for $1 or less},
and Some duct tape.
Before you to stalking through the corn field off in the boonies, please ask permission. 🙂
Step 1: Gather four bags full of corn tassels. Scissors work great for this. The tassel is the very top of the corn stalk in case you didn’t know.
Try your darndest to get tassels that are straight instead of tassels that spray all over the place. Step 2: After you have a bag full of tassels, you need to make a pool noodle wreath by cutting it and duct taping it together. You can spray paint it if you want, but really no one will see the pool noodle once you are done.
Step 3: Divide your tassels into separate piles depending on their lengths. You can cut down your tassels if you need to.
Step 4: Make a small hole in the noodle with the end of your scissors and slide in your tassel one at a time. Start at the back with your longest {and straightest} corn tassels.
Step 5: Continue layering your tassels into your pool noodle until it is full.
The only thing that would make this wreath better is if it were MINE instead of my Sister’s. Don’t you think she should make me one? I think so. I think a trio of corn tassel wreaths would be darling on my front door to celebrate FALL.
I hope that you have enjoyed this fun {and more importantly basically FREE} idea! My sister Nat is absolutely amazing, and I love that she shared this project with me.
Fall wreath that costs $1.00 or less
This project most likely won’t cost you a dime to make.
You can’t beat FREE right!?!?

i need to find a corn field asap! this turned out perfect for autumn!
It's beautiful.
Since I don't have access to a cornfield, I'm determined to use your idea of a noodle poked with dry foliage (or something!) to create something similar.
Thanks for a sweet and simple tutorial.
No corn fields next to me. : ( love the wreath.
If only there was a corn field around here!! this is beautiful!

It's so gorgeous and the the whole thing could probably get spray painted in a color as well. I'm a city girl but this is one time I wish I lived in the country!
Love this wreath! So clever!
Love the look of this wreath! Now, where can I find a corn field? Think they'd believe I only wanted tassels?

over from southern hospitality….LOVE this wreath…pinned it to try later!
Found a corn field, got permission, cut tassels for 2 hrs, got a bee sting, love my huge wreath. I centered it in the peak over the front porch. Did I mention it turned out much larger than I thought it would, this thing is massive! I love it! Thank you nice cornfield owner man (who even asked if I needed something to snip the tops off with) but I had 'borrowed' my hubby's tin snips which were very adequate! I LOVE FALL DECOR!!! I don't love or even like bee stings:(
This is absolutely gorgeous! I didn't even know there were corn tassels! LOL!
Thanks for sharing

No corn fields near me…:( This is a beautiful wreath! I wonder what I can use to get a similar look….any ideas??
I’ve been gathering grasses with their seed tops intact and drying them. When I think I have enough. I’m going to make bundles and layer them around the wreath, kind of like Laura from Garden Answer on YouTube and her mom did to make Wheat wreaths.

I also have a packet of Blue Wheat seeds that I intend to plant in the spring so, I can use it to make a blue Wheat wreath.
Thrifty and fantastic. I invite you to share at my Autumn Wreath Round up Hugs!
she should make you one and then me 🙂 loll this is very lovely
Does this last beyond one season? Wondering if the tassels will dry out and be good for years.
Yes they last as long as you are careful with it!
I wonder if it might be a good idea to put a dab of hot glue in each hole before inserting the corn tassel. That might make it slightly more durable.
Great idea!
Love this wreath. I like to do things that are from nature.
