I have two brothers who served LDS missions to Brazil.
My brother Phil gave me this recipe, and I have made two batches in less than a week <—AND that is saying a lot because this recipe makes A LOT. You could probably frost 3 regular 13X9 size cakes with this recipe. Plus, my kids think it is pudding and they have been eating it with a spoon. I don’t say I blame them. It’s pretty darn delicious.
Please enjoy.
Brazilian Frosting Recipe
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 2 cans Milk {Whole if you have it}
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- 1 3/4 cups of Chocolate Chips
- 1 can Cream
Instructions
-
Dump the Sweetened Condensed Milk into a medium pot
-
Use the empty can to measure two cans of milk into a separate bowl.
-
Add 1/2 cup cornstarch into the milk and stir to dissolve thoroughly with a whisk.
-
Once the cornstarch is dissolved in the milk, add it to the sweetened condensed milk and warm on medium heat while stirring constantly until it thickens. {Use a whisk so that the cornstarch doesn't ball up}.
-
After the mixture thickens up, remove it from the heat and add the cream and chocolate.
-
Stir with a wooden spoon until the chocolate is melted and the cream is mixed in.
-
Pour over your cooled cake and spread.
-
Cool completely in the fridge before eating.
Recipe Notes
BEWARE, this recipe is dangerously delicious.
I am obsessed with this recipe. It’s sooo good. Don’t make it if you aren’t eating sugar.
I hope you had a great weekend.
xoxo,
Brooke
I would love to try this, but what size cans for all the “can” requirements?
I knew that part might be a bit confusing. Thank you for the question! I use the empty sweetened condensed can for this {14 ounces}.
I was wondering if it is half and half cream?
I used heavy whipping cream actually. š
hummmmm i have to agree with the kiddos on this one…my frosting NEVER makes it to my cakes…IT IS THE ADULT VERSION OF PUDDING, at least that’s what I have been telling myself for years now. Plus it’s heavier so you really only need about five spoonfuls, instead of a whole box of pudding….just sayin’
HAHA! Love it Kate. xoxo
Just curious what kind of cake did you put it on? It looks like Texas Sheet Cake?!
This picture is actually just store-bought brownie mix actually. š
Brooke, you made a comment about not eating if you aren’t eating sugar….but other than the condensed milk there is no sugar in the recipe…did I miss something?
Hi Roberta!
I just meant that it’s definitely not a healthy recipe by any means. š But it’s yummy! The chocolate chips are high in sugar also.
What kind of chocolate chips do you use? ( semi-sweet, milk etc)
Hi Emily! We used milk chocolate chips. š
