The never-ending backyard project is getting closer and closer to completion. If you have missed the first ba-dillion posts about the progress, let me fill you in with the progress so far.
Like any other project, you must have a “plan” to help you succeed. This is the backyard landscape design that my husband designed in his head. I am a more visual person, so in order to understand exactly what he had in mind, we sat down together while I drew up the design on photoshop. As soon as I drew it, it was was simple.
The backyard started out like this. This picture was taken just a few months ago.
First, the sprinkler system was installed. Then came the sod and curbing. All done by Stone Tree Landscaping here in St. George Utah. They did a fantastic job.
Then came the hard labor on our end. We started with planting around our curbing, and then we laid weed mat to prevent weeds from surfacing.
Next, we ordered a 12 ton load of decorative landscaping rocks (from Star Nursery here in St. George, Utah).
FYI-We laid down black visqueen before the truck dumped the rocks. We bought the visqueen at Home Depot. We did this to separate the decorative rock from the ground.
(Look at that hot hubby of mine!)
The wheel barrow loads began (and seemed to never end). We brought the rocks over in wheel barrows, and then spread the rocks with rakes. We were careful to make sure the rocks were distributed evenly throughout the yard.
So for several days we covered the weed mat with decorative landscape rocks.
I added the purple pots to add some color to the backyard.
We are almost done with the rock project. Sidenote: I love my backyard mural! It is my favorite thing back there so far.
It is looking pretty darn good.
Landsape projects are HARD work! I can’t wait to show you the rest of the yard.

Wow, it's coming along beautifully! I especially love the purple pots, those were a great choice to bring a splash of purple to the yard!
It looks great! What a difference. What an interesting way to do a mural. I've never thought about that before. I'll have to keep that in mind. Did you already have a projector? Can you rent them?
I love your mural! Did you come up with the design?
The yard is really coming together! And I love the mural more every time I see it!
Wow Brooke, it is looking fantastic!
We just had two more loads of gravel delivered on Friday. Most of it is still sitting in the driveway! We can SO feel your pain!!
Olá, passei pra dar um cheirinho…e dizer que adorei o passo a passo da cabeceira de cama, vou fazer. Já estou te seguindo e curtindo tudo.
Venha me conhecer também.

Great garden makeover, and so much work, but it's obviously paying off. The mural is really interesting, a lovely touch, and the purple pots are popping!
