Our color scheme this year is red, gold, and natural jute.  I just barely finished decorating the tree yesterday!

The barn wood advent calendar is one of my favorite Christmas decorations of all time!

I bought the cute boxes at Target for 50% off in the dollar section. They were $1.50 for two boxes! If you need some cheap Christmas ornaments, head on over to Target and get some yourself! I wrapped some of them with brown paper, but others I just added a ribbon and bow. The gold and red ornaments came in a huge box from Costco.

I love to decorate with books! I covered some of them in decorative scrap book paper and then I stacked them on top of each other to make Christmas trees.

I bought this adorable Merry Christmas banner at Target. I think it was $6.99.

I also made handmade ornaments out of poster boards.

Plus, we changed our movie theatre sign to be a little more festive too! I love it! My kids are pretty opinionated about what to put on it too.

I made my own wrapping paper, by cutting some cute gold vinyl with my Silhouette machine. It was so easy, and I think they turned out super fun!

We have searched all over town for garland, and we came to the conclusion that Costco has the best garland for the price. It’s really thick and pretty for only $29.99 for nine feet. Other garland is comparable in price and length, but it isn’t near as thick as the Costco garland. After all, a girl can never have too much garland, right?

I got the pine sprays at HomeGoods.

I decided to make my own paper ornaments this year with poster board! It was really easy and all it took was poster board, a little gold spray paint, and a stapler.  I will be posting some tutorials for those soon!

Here is a better look just in case you want to make them yourself.

This cute little wooden Christmas tree came from HomeGoods, and I added the miniature ornaments to make it a little more festive!

    1. Thanks Jacki! I am in LOVE with decorating with books these days, and I thought it would be a fun way to change it up a bit! Thanks for your cute comment!

  2. O MG your house is gorgeous. I absolutely love your advent calendar. You have some really neat things and I love the way you covered the books to make trees out of them. Clever. Thank you for sharing your home. Good job.

  3. Hi Brooke!

I just came from Pinterest, I was looking for ideas for Fall decor, I decided I needed to change mine out this year.
To my great delight, someone pinned an image of your perfectly adorable stacked book Christmas trees! I have floor to ceiling built-in bookcases in my den. This year I’ve decided to leave most of the books on the shelves, interspersed with your sweet stacked book trees, I can’t wait…Thank you!
