Etched Glass Picture Frame

Hi everyone!  It’s Kenz here, from Interiors By Kenz.  I’ve got a really fun and easy project to share with you today.

I was out thrift shopping, and I saw this frame for just a couple dollars.

Etched-glass-picture-frame-beforeOne thing you should know about me is that Disneyland runs thick in my blood.  My family and I love spending time at the happiest place on Earth!  I mean, just look at them.  This is my definition of happiness!

I was inspired to make a Disneyland themed art project.  I love the feeling I get when I first get to the park and walk through the tunnel beneath that iconic plaque that says:

Disneyland PosterI designed that poster and decided to cut the file on my Cricut.  I used the “negative” of the vinyl so I could etch the poster onto the glass.  I used painters tape as guides so I would know where to place my vinyl.

Then I applied glass etching cream in the letters.  It’s a very simple product to use.  You brush it on in one direction, then again in the opposite direction to avoid brush marks.  You let it sit for about 15 mins, then wash it off.  Be prepared, because it stinks like yucky eggs.  Ew.

We spray painted the frame red (for Mickey!), and cut a black poster board we had on hand to put behind the glass.  This would also look darling with a family picture from vacation!

And this was the finished product!  It was quite difficult to photograph because the glass was so reflective.

This was the best I could do without getting too much of a reflection.  The possibilities for this glass etching project idea are endless!  You don’t even need a vinyl cutter to do something cute.  You could use letter stickers to make a quote.  You could use painters tape to create a design.  A personal picture could go behind the etching.  You could etch your anniversary and have your wedding picture.  I’d love to hear your ideas for more etching possibilities!

Take care, my friends.  And don’t forget to stop by Interiors By Kenz and say hi 🙂
