Our laundry room is out of control. It’s our catch-all spot in the house. After living in our house for almost eight years, we have painted almost every square inch inside of this place. But, the laundry room has lived on the back burner. I painted the cubbies a few years back, but I was ready for something a little more calm.
This is what the laundry room looked like the day before we made her over.
We got rid of all of the junk and excess items that were living in this room for no good reason. We donated a ton of items to the local charity store. It felt good to get rid of all of the kids’ shoes that no longer fit! I swear they grow like weeds. I may have thrown away 20 hats that we don’t wear too. Shhhh don’t tell the kids. They will never even notice they are gone.
We painted the walls Behr Pure white, installed some shiplap boards to the cubbies, had a cabinet made for the wasted space above the washer and dryer, and we even built a wooden counter top for above the appliances.
I am in awe at how much bigger the room feels now.
The BHG laundry sorter is definitely going to help keep things organized. Since my four kids wear clothes every day {unfortunately}, laundry is my constant companion. Luckily I love to listen to books on audible, so it helps keep me occupied while I fold the laundry. I love that there are several versions available in Walmart stores. The four bag laundry sorter that I bought was only $28.88. But they also have three bag sorters and bigger two bag sorters too!
We added a cute galvanized metal BHG clock to this room too because my kids shoes and socks live in the laundry room. This way they can see if they are going to miss the bus in the morning. I made my own sassy wall art for the wall, and I promise I would never ACTUALLY punch my kids in the face. #imagoodmomiswear
We installed some stained shiplap to the back of the cubbies to give the room some character, and I cannot believe the difference that made.
BHG has some awesome storage containers too! We already had the ones we used in our laundry room, but you can get some stylish baskets at Walmart at GREAT prices. All of these baskets below are less than $15.
I am so excited to finally have a clean and organized laundry room that functions well! I hope the kids will do their part and help keep it clean. #sayseverymomever.
Just to remind you, here is one more before and after! Just keepin’ it real.
xoxo,
Brooke

We are on the same page – we have been knee-deep in a laundry room makeover for the last 12 days. I’m so ready to be done 🙂 I love how fresh this feels! That pure white is fabulous- we have used it everywhere.
I don’t like the sign; of course you wouldn’t actually punch your children, but man, I just don’t think that sends the right message to the kids and I would never, ever, have something like that up in my house.
So clean and pretty! It would definitely inspire me to do laundry. Our laundry area is more of a nook than a room – but uncluttering it is on my list of things to do to make it seem bigger and cleaner!
Very cute room, but the sign seems unnecessarily violent. Words have more power than we realize.
I LOVE it!!! It looks so amazing! That sign is hilarious and awesome!
xoxo
I never comment but HAvE to! I personally LOVE the sign! I have teenagers, and they thought it was hilarious! Depending on your families personalities and how “stiff” or not “stiff” you are would depend if you would hang it! But come on people, anyone following your blog longer than a minute should know you are fun and not “stiff”.
I WOUld buy one from you in a heartbeat! Please do a tutorial!!! I truly need his sign!!
Such a big difference, I love it! That sign is too funny. Our laundry room is on my to-do list, so I’m definitely taking some ideas from you!
So very cute! I’m working on a laundry room refresh right now too! Where did you get that adorable “put your laundry” away sign??
