It’s the holiday season, which means………
Family,
friends,
busy,
too little time!
We are The Fancy Farmgirls
We are busy right along with the rest of you, but we wanted to show what a big change
could be made with one hour and one can of spray paint!
Here’s our cast of characters:
This is a great time to spruce up the house for you and your holiday visitors.
Hurry before the weather turns too cold!
Spray paint and cold weather are not the best combination.
We love before and after’s!
You too?
Good! Set your timers for an hour and let’s beautify!
First up, this sofa table
Spray, sand, stain and ……
Liz, sprayed the base using Valspars, “silver fox”.
She then sanded down the top and re stained it in a dark walnut stain.
The hardware was sprayed with oil rubbed bronze spray paint to give it an updated look.
Next up: An entry table.
This is a great multi-functional piece that can be used as an entry table, night stand, bathroom, etc.
This piece had a lot of detail and dimension, so I chose to go with a light color which helps to show that off.
This was painted in Rustoleum’s “Heirloom White”. This is a great off white color. The hardware on this was not able to be removed.
So…..
Little tip here: I rubbed parts of it with a coat of Vaseline prior to painting and then it easily wiped right off.
I wanted a really chippy rustic look,
so I pulled out the sander and went a little crazy!
Next up, an end table/nightstand.
This was sprayed in valspar’s “La Fonda Mirage”.
We love this color!
And when you Boise gals can’t find any, you can thank Liz who is hoarding stashes of it!
We sprayed it, distressed it, and added a cute knob to up the cuteness factor.
Our quickest projects:
We sprayed the piano bench with Rustoleum “aqua”.
Then we added some faux fur to give it some fun pep.
The child’s rocker is sprayed Valspar’s “Rosy cheeks”.
It was then slightly distressed and ready for a rosy cheeked little princess to enjoy.
O.K. full disclosure here:
this one might have to join the cheaters category.
We used one can, but don’t look at the back because it didn’t make it that far.
But it fits in the one hour category so we’re going with it!
This is sprayed with Valspars “La Fonda Mirage”
All These projects are quick and easy and can transform your dated furniture into something that you get to love again!

Oh my stars – I love them all. I’m such a sucker for paint & a little free time to make something amazing!
All of this is gorgeous 🙂
I love it all! How do you destress spray painted items? Are they sprayed with a top coat at all? I’m a newbie to cabby chic and do in love with it!
Thanks
thanks for the inspiration! good job.
Great furniture finds. Love the color choices =) Also, your hair looks awesome in that top photo.
Just discovered your blog! You are a DIY rock star! Wow I love your pieces….After you did that white nightstand with the rustoleum did you use any kind of poly or wax or anything to seal it? It looks amazing.. I have 2 beautiful very similar stands and would love to use your idea to attempt to mimic your gorgeous example! Can’t wait for your advice!!! Thanks so much!
I love all of these pieces…they look so great! Thank you for the inspiration!! I know this is an older post, but I just came across it and am hoping it’s not been too long to get a question answered! Is the very last piece (after the head-/footboard) also in the Valspar “La Fonda Mirage?” I’m assuming it is, but it looks a little lighter than the other two pieces (which could obviously be due to lighting differences, a different finish, influence of the accessorizing decor, etc.) and I love it!!! I look forward to hearing back!
