This post was sponsored by the BHG Live Better Network. I received compensation from BHG at Walmart. All Opinions are 100% my own.
I got to refresh my best friend Jo’s living room today. She needed a change, and because of my ADD {attention decorator’s disorder}, I was on that like white on rice. Jo, her husband Ben, and their adorable four kiddos have rented for awhile now, and if you rent, you know that white walls get. old. fast. So, adding color through accessories, pillows, and plants is essential when renting.
I hopped over to Walmart grab a few inexpensive decorating accessories to add to the space. I am always surprised at the gems I can find when I actually look hard. I’ll be the first to admit that Walmart isn’t the first place that I think about to buy home decor. In fact, before I partnered with Better Homes and Gardens, I didn’t even know they had such cute accessories. I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
The entire cost of refreshing her living room was less than $200.
Don’t you love her turquoise coffee table? We painted and glazed that bad boy around four years ago!
I chose this cute navy blue rug from the Better Homes and Garden’s collection at Walmart. It was only $44 at our local Walmart.
I added a few throw pillows to add color and character. {The pillows on the left are oldies from HomeGoods, the Teal Pillow is a BHG beauty, and the yellow pillows are also from BHG}.
Here is a closer look at the pillows I chose.
In my opinion a room isn’t complete without a plant, so naturally I added one to the corner. š Plus this hanging lamp is pretty darn awesome. {Sidenote: the lamp was only $66 in the store not $89 like the online price says.}
We redecorated her plant shelf by shopping in other rooms of her house. She had some really cute decorating accessories that needed a new home <—-that is code for the rest of her house is torn to pieces. Sorry Jo.
The cute jade clock is another gem from BHG at Walmart.
I also added a cute white picture frame to her already darling photo gallery.
My favorite part of the day was when her daughter Hiley came in and said, “I love this! Can we keep it this way forever?” It made my heart happy. Look at her cute face! I promised her I would take her picture in the room before I left.
How about you, do you need a room refresh!?!

I need to do this in my house! I love the neutral couch with all the pops of color. I agree that Walmart has improved greatly over the years. It makes it [somewhat] easier living where there are no shopping options…
I absolutely love the frame display. I am about to up-cycle and spray paint a range of frames to lay out like this in my living room.
Also love the shutters either side of the picture in the other wall. I have found a few different ideas of things to do with shutters and I think they’re wonderful. Just got to persuade my husband on the matter. . .
Thanks, and to see my frames:
