I love these 10 rugs.

Dan isn’t the type of husband that just says, “Yes Dear.” In fact, when he says those words, it is only to taunt me. He always has an opinion, and most of the time it is appreciated, but at times it is tricky when there are too many opinions if you catch what I’m dropping.
As you know, we are almost done with our flooring project. <—Hallelujah! And Dan has been quite hilarious about finding “soft” rugs. I, on the other hand, am searching for color.
I’ll send him a picture, and his only reaction is, “Is it soft?” I want to scream, “NO! But it’s FREAKING AMAZING!”
Evidence exhibit #1:
As you can see, I’m more concerned with the colors than the softness, but that’s just the decorator in me. Isn’t that ^ rug FABULOUS!?!
In my quest for soft and colorful rugs {with an emphasis on color, ahem}, I’ve searched for rugs for weeks. It’s a hobby/obsession of mine. I’ve come to the conclusion that I have a deep, real love for almost all rugs. I feel like I have ADD {Attention Decorating Disorder} because one minute I can picture a beautiful green rug in my space, and the next I’m mentally decorating the area with a navy blue one! Then, out of no where I am overtaken by this intense love for colorful rugs. Houston, we have a problem. I WANT ALL THE THINGS. Obviously, I can’t have all the things.
I even went on a whirlwind of a shopping trip to Vegas yesterday to find “the one” and I went to millions of stores to no avail {ok. Not millions, but it feels like millions when you get home at 2am}.
After the shopping marathon, I decided that shopping online for rugs is definitely the best choice. Too bad I had to learn that the hard way. But in my defense, buying rugs online can be tricky. And last time I ordered a rug it was PLASTIC when it came! I just wanted to touch the rugs myself this time. Unfortunately, I found that impossible. Even traveling two hours away from home to Anthropologie to touch their rugs ended up being a bust. They don’t carry 95% of their rugs in the store. Good times. I won’t complain. It was fun nonetheless.
After narrowing the field this morning, I have ten rugs on the list, and some of them are waaaaay too expensive, but they are all on my list of great rugs that could transform my living room perfectly. I like to look at the expensive rugs too because it is always a possibility to find a more inexpensive rug that can help obtain the same feel. You will notice that there are a few different styles in my collection, and I’m sure you won’t be surprised after the mention of my self-diagnosis of ADD above.
Wish me luck on my rug quest. In the mean time, I’ll be rocking to myself in the corner saying, “Marriage is all about compromise. Marriage is all about compromise.” As I bury the urge to buy all the amazing scratchy Kilim Turkish rugs on Ebay.
Happy Hump Day!
xoxo,
Brooke
these are some very nice rugs and it is giving me a few ideas as into what i want to place in my own den.
I got a rug for our son’s room off Joss & Main. They usually have a lot of flat weave, but I wanted something to hold up better, so I scoured the descriptions for a hand hooked wool rug and got a great one off there.
Just came across this one I totally would have bought if it had been on there at the time!

Ours is going on a year at least and has held up really well. I think the hooking gives it a bit of a cush which I would qualify as being soft for a rug.
I love that you travelled 2hours to go feel rugs in anthropologie!! I would totally do that!
Are we married to the same guy? Because my husband has strong opinions on decor too, especially the softness of rugs! But i guess since he’s usually the one wrasslin’ with the kids on the floor, he gets to have an opinion on rug softness! Super cute rug roundup girl. Good luck picking!
I bought a new rug last year that was soft to the touch but not soft under our feet (if that makes sense). I ended up buying cheap carpet pad from Home Depot (the kind that comes on the roll by their in-stock carpet) to put down underneath. It cost less than a (much-thinner) rug pad and softened the rug right up. Something to keep in mind as you look. Good luck!
omg story of my life. I want pretty, husband wants soft and comfortable. Your rug search reminds me of my comforter search. I wanted a new one for my birthday/christmas, he told me to pick one out. I swear, by the time I gave up, I picked out 27 different comforters. Never soft enough. I got to the point of telling him that I didn’t want to repaint right now, so pick a darn comforter and I’ll be surprised.
He did good, actually picked one of the 27 (he actually went to stores to feel these things, no materials list online for him). It’s pretty and soft. I vote on making your hubby pick one….of the choices you selected. ha 🙂
Just wanted to chime in with a vote for the D&A Indoor/outdoor. I’ve specified it in different colorways several times and my clients (even the hubbies!) have always been really pleased. Plus, it’s durable as all get-out…
Good luck with the choice; they’re all gorgeous options!

Oh my gosh! I am having this exact … “discussion” with my husband about our office rug! 🙂
Oh Oh Oh I have a “Yes Dear” hubby dude too.

As a fellow “ADD” sufferer, I was blessed with exactly the same kind of hubby, except without the ability to visualize. I choose to think he keeps me grounded and sometimes having to convince him of what I like makes me realize just how much I love an item or an idea. If he dislikes it and I am over it quickly, then I really didn’t Love the idea in the first place!
Marriage IS all about compromise. Remember Proverbs 27:17 as you are rocking in the corner. 😉 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
Your choices are fabulous and I hope you find one that fits the bill!

PS I vote for Rug #3 or #8
I’m so cracking up because my hubs definitely shares all of what he’s thinking when it comes to decorating here. He often has more of a say than I do- unless I can actually get him to comply when I say “shhhh- trust me” . Hehheheh – he’s often very happy with what I choose – but likes to be a very big part of most of the decisions.
I vote #6 because I love the look of it AND it appears to be the softest:)
Why oh why do husbands want to have a say with the decorating?! I feel your pain. Good luck!
Thanks for the eye candy, Brooke! All the rugs have their perks, but I sense that what you’ve really asked for are ways to narrow your choices. How long will the rug remain in this space? Will you change it seasonally? If so, then I’d go bold with pops of your favorite colors. Or do you need this ONE rug to shine year ’round for the next few years? Perhaps a neutral that will coordinate with any seasonal decor might be a better choice? Good luck with your decision. I’m sure whatever you choose will be fabulous for all the right reasons. If you’ve narrowed down to these 10 choices, my picks would be 3, 6, 8 or 10; whichever is softest, of course. Enjoy the choice!
Oh man not the popular choice it seems but, number two, the gray Ikat made me swoon.
