Hello there my ATT friends! It’s Gina from Kleinworth & Co. & I’m back today to share with you one of our family’s all time favorite Yummy Bar Recipes. I love making bar recipes. Dessert Bars make a great after dinner treat for the family & always hold up well for things like potlucks or social events. I love giving them on a gift platter for new neighbors too. These Salted Caramel Butter Bars are a buttery shortbread crumble that is packed full of salted caramel. If you love salted caramel – these are for you!!
My family swoons over these. My hubs loves buttery cookies so butter bars are perfect for him. It gives him that butter flavor he loves but with more to it than just a cookie.
I can’t even tell you just how good these are. Usually I have self control when it comes to the recipes I make to share. I can usually just have 1, maybe 2. If it’s really good – 3. But these – oh boy! I had to close the lid & walk away. They were calling me all night. Rarely do I have recipe that calls me back to the kitchen to throw all willpower out the window. But these…..these are the recipe that did it!
Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) butter – room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup confectioners sugar
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
*For the filling
1/2 cup homemade caramel
1/2 tbsp coarse salt
OR you can use
7 ounce bag caramel candies
1/6 cup milk
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Line 8×8 pan with parchment & set aside
In mixer bowl combine sugars & butter – mix on medium until creamy
Add vanilla – beat until combined
Add flour & mix on low until dough becomes smooth
Press 2/3 of the dough into an even layer in the bottom of prepared pan
Bake for about 20 minutes or until edges are golden
Refrigerate remaining dough while that is baking
While that is baking prepare your caramel if you are making it from the candies by
combining unwrapped caramels & milk in microwave safe bowl & heat in microwave for approx 1 minute
Stir & continue to heat in 30 second intervals until melted
Once melted add vanilla & set aside until crust is done baking
Once you remove crust from oven top with your caramel & sprinkle with your coarse salt
Take remaining dough & crumble over the top of the caramel layer – do not press or spread – leave in crumbles
Return pan to the oven & bake 25-35 minutes or until golden & filling is bubbly
Let cool before cutting into squares
Store in an airtight container
So what do you think?? I hope your family loves them as much as mine!
Thanks so much for spending time with me today!!

That sweetened condensed milk is a STAPLE in my home. Except that I just leave it in the can at a rolling boil for two hours, throw it on a graham cracker crust, top with whipped cream and banana’s and have a Banoffee Pie! This is going into my dessert rotation immediately
I just love anything with salted caramel…can’t wait to give them a try!!
Yum! These look so delicious!
