Spring Mossy Pots

Hello!  Fancy Farmgirls here!

No,  It’s not spring.

But…. it’s getting close!  Not feeling ready to bring in bright florals quite yet, but we did bring in some mossy pots to add a pop of green.

These are fail proof and so inexpensive to re create.

I purchased  “peat pots” which are for starting seeds in.  Check the gardening section of your local department store.  They have a texture that works perfectly for dry brushing and getting that aged look.

Yes, my brushes and paint cans look this bad. ;(

This is a perfect project to use inexpensive, throw away brushes.  You dip the brush into the paint and then proceed to wipe off as much as possible before brushing it onto the pots.  Think “dry” brushing.  Less is more.  Using a light hand you brush the pots.  Because of the textured pots the paint will just hit the raised areas.

Yes, my glue gun is as nasty as my brushes. ;(

Once that is done you tear off chunks of sheet moss and hot glue them to the pots in a random pattern.

And you’ve just added a touch of spring in a quick, inexpensive project!

I added votive candles into the small pots and thrift store glass vases into the larger ones with faux succulents from Hobby Lobby.

These are a nice transition before the bright cheery florals appear.

For added height I placed them on top of books also from the thrift store.  Large box is a Home Goods find which I also dry brushed.
