Fancy Farmgirls here.
We didn’t need another bench… yet they’re so handy for so many spots.
These are great for entryways, porches, at the foot of a bed, etc. I found this one at the thrift store and liked the size and the support/shelf along the bottom. So we snagged it up and gave it a quick makeover.
We like to change things up around here, so we lightened it up by dry brushing on some white paint.
Dry brushing is the non perfectionist way of painting! Just wipe off all excess paint from the brush and drag it across the piece lightly for a rustic, distressed look. It’s also a very quick way to get a piece done. š
I then used Frog Tape to tape off stripes.
I applied the tape before the paint was fully dry. This will add more distressing when you pull the tape up. Not necessary at all but a handy trick when your in a hurry. Let’s just call it a happy accident. š
It’s all part of adding character to the piece.
I used craft paint for the stripes and brushed it on with a small brush. One thick coat was enough.
Another trick when painting crisp lines using tape is to remove the tape before the paint fully dries.
The longest part of this project is waiting for paint to dry.
Add a few cozies to the space and done!
The shelf below becomes a good spot for additional storage and styling.Adding the grain stripe adds just a little more character to an otherwise simple bench. Find something in your home that your tired of and give it new life with paint!
